Audio Book Summary

When a rebel serving in the Army meets the girl of his dreams, he must face an impossible choice as a national tragedy forces them apart in this powerful New York Times bestseller. An angry rebel, John dropped out of school and enlisted in the Army, not knowing what else to do with his life--until he meets the girl of his dreams, Savannah. Their mutual attraction quickly grows into the kind of love that leaves Savannah waiting for John to finish his tour of duty, and John wanting to settle down with the woman who captured his heart.
But 9/11 changes everything.
John feels it is his duty to re-enlist. And sadly, the long separation finds Savannah falling in love with someone else. 'Dear John,' the letter read...and with those two words, a heart was broken and two lives were changed forever. Returning home, John must come to grips with the fact that Savannah, now married, is still his true love--and face the hardest decision of his life.

Really had to work hard to finish this book. The pace was like molasses, the plot predictable, and maybe it was just me, but it sounded REALLY stupid to have a guy trying to narrate a woman's voice.

This is one of my favorite books from Nicholas Sparks EVER! For anyone that has seen the movie first the book is SOOO much better than the book. And for anyone that hasn't seen the movie or read the book...see the movie first then read the book....because if you read the book first, then you will be disappointed with the movie. This is an awesome book, sure to tug at said, heartstrings...

I enjoy Nicholas' Sparks work very much. However, in Dear John, the characters of John and Tim, who are extremely strong, honest and very noble, are quite a stark contrast to Savannah who was very judgemental, self-righteous and a bit too complicated to tolerate at times.

Absolutely beautiful story, real, honest, truthful, and for a lot of people I think somewhat relateable on different levels. Really tears at the heartstrings and is wonderfully read so be prepared.

This book is sorry. Totally lame. For emo kids and pre-teens.
