M laid down his pipe and stared at it tetchily. “We have no choice. We’re just going to bring forward this other chap you’ve been preparing. But you didn’t tell me his name.”

“‘It’s Bond, sir,'” the Chief of Staff replied. “James Bond.”

The sea keeps its secrets. But not this time.

One body. Three bullets. 007 floats in the waters of Marseille, killed by an unknown hand.

Anthony Horowitz does an excellent job taking the reader back in time on a 1960s timewarp with James Bond's first adventure. An MI6 Agent with the codename 007 is murdered in France. He's about to expose a very big heroin deal involving Corsican gangsters and parties unknown. Only to get three slugs in his chest for his troubles; Bond is sent into France to find out who pulled the trigger. What follows next is fitting for a Connery era 007 adventure. There's plenty of action, romance, intrigue and espionage to keep your attention throughout!
