Audio Book Summary

Pride and Prejudice, a comedy of manners and marriage, is the most famous of Jane Austen's novels. In this dramatic adaption by Mary Keith Medbery Macakaye some liberties are taken with the storyline and characters, but it is still a fun listen or read. Perhaps a good introduction for someone not ready to tackle the complete novel ~ and for the reader familiar with the work, a laugh can be had at the changes that were made in order to adapt it to the stage (Summary by Maria Therese)

The first act condensed the classic in a satisfying way, the following acts are SUPER condensed to the point of being disappointing- Elisabeth is portrayed very strangely. I loved the narration, but Mr. Darcy can be difficult to understand, which is pretty disappointing cuz he’s kinda important to the story.

I love the stories. But I couldn't make out some of the words from one of the narrators as they spoke very quickly. I would prefer if it used just one narrator for the whole book.. But enjoyed the story

This was written as a play based on Jane Austen's novel, sometimes very loosely including both dialogue and action, other times with dialogue verbatim. It caused me to reflect on the ways socializing differs in our time compared to then, nuances have been lost that were formerly paid great attention to, since attention spans now make it rare to spend time and care with such things. Another site noted of this play, in spite of "some liberties taken with the storyline and characters, it is still a fun listen or read."
