Audio Book Summary
Penguin presents the audiobook edition of The Salt Path by Raynor Winn, read by Anne Reid.
Just days after Raynor learns that Moth, her husband of 32 years is terminally ill, the couple lose their home and their livelihood. With nothing left and little time, they make the brave and impulsive decision to walk the 630 miles of the sea-swept South West Coast Path, from Somerset to Dorset, via Devon and Cornwall.
They have almost no money for food or shelter and must carry only the essentials for survival on their backs as they live wild in the ancient, weathered landscape of cliffs, sea and sky. Yet through every step, every encounter, and every test along the way, their walk becomes a remarkable journey.

This is beautifully read but is a gut wrenching story of loss. However in the act of walking there is healing and hope. There have been many books written of ‘Pilgrimage and redemption’. This is something much simpler; the restoration of physical health and emotional recovery following injustice, catastrophic decisions and loss of security. It tells a story of the edge and the nature of being on a cliff edge where the simplest thing brings get nourishment. Worth listening to.

Terrible! Had to get this version as the author read one was so hard to listen to. It's totally fine to have speech issues but not when reading an audiobook.
The book itself is self-Indulgent whinging. I get that their life is so horrible and I feel sorry for them but why can't they do basic things like pack Suncream?? Moth is a 1D character and it doesn't even give you a good sense of the path's character, history or scenario. Forced myself to finish as for book club. Never again!

Ann Reid has done an awesome narration on a brilliant book. Laughter and tears in equal measure, while listening about so many places I already know.
