Loved the book. John Muir's beautiful descriptions of the Yosemite Valley before it was overrun with people are enlightening.
I understood the narrators were volunteers but there should have been some kind of quality control. One narrator had an electronic whine throughout their chapters. Another, for chapters 8 & 9 did not bother to learn how to say the names of plants and birds. She stumbled through her narration as if she had never read a word of the book before. Maybe she hadn't. Too bad she read the chapters about the plants and birds.
