I've been a fan of Christie Golden for years, and it's interesting seeing her write about a sizable female cast. This book is about the Imperial agents of Inferno Squad, featured in the new Battlefront 2, about their defining mission. Golden references the prequel book to Rogue One, but it is not required to read that in order to read this. I do recommend you watch Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Rogue One before reading this, though, otherwise a lot of information will go right over your head. This is an excellent introduction to characters we'll likely see plenty of in Battlefront 2, and is read by Iden Versio's face-model and voice actress. Janina Gavankar does certain parts very well but others feel a little weak. Ironically, I don't think she does Iden very well. It's clear Golden was working with some constraints for this book. A certain end-game is required by the end in order to set it up for Battlefront 2, so she crafted a story to meet it and I think the book slightly suffers for it, particularly in its handling of female characters. Overall, I liked the book, but I don't think it's Christie Golden's best work and I hope the game makes it all worth it.
