Audio Book Summary

In Robert Ludlum's ground-breaking career, no other character so captured the world's imagination as Jason Bourne. He appeared in three of Robert Ludlum's own #1 bestselling novels, his bestselling works to this day. Now, with the major motion picture adaptation of Ludlum's The Bourne Supremacy, the Ludlum estate has finally acceded to the demands of readers around the world, turning to bestselling writer Eric Van Lustbader to create a brand new Jason Bourne novel, The Bourne Legacy.

Jason Bourne, international assassin of deadly repute, was an identity assumed by covert agent David Webb. Retired from the CIA and now a professor at Georgetown University, Webb's life is finally his own—until he becomes the target of an assassin and is framed for the murder of his two closest associates. Fighting for his life against unseen assailants, the Bourne identity asserts itself, leaving Jason Bourne in control. Barely a half-step ahead of his nemesis and the CIA, who believes he has gone rogue, Bourne finds himself a pawn in a larger, far deadlier game.

I rented this because i enjoyed the movies and I thought my husband and I would enjoy it on a little road trip we just took. Wow. The narration is ok but the writing is terrible. I hadn't read anything by this author since i was a kid. It was so bad it made us laugh and groan in places.

Initial part of the story was promising, but the melodramatic narration and dialog became overwhelming...I just didn't want to hear anymore and stopped listening after the first 4-5 chapters.

The Bourne Legacy is a terrific "read" and the narrator does a great job. The reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is that there is a bit too much introspection and soul searching which bogs down the book - a bit like a car driven by someone who repeatedly hits the brake pedal in the middle of the motorway then hits the petrol pedal again. All in all a great book and well worth listening to.

I had read the Bourne Identity and The Bourne Supremacy years ago, so I only remember that I had loved both books. This one is great! The suspense is almost too much to endure, especially due to the fact that we live in times when the plot cannot any more be viewed as fantasy. it's beautifuly written, with the new revelations about Bourne's past making this book something more gripping than just a good cloak and dagger story.

This book is the best one yet in the Bourne series. It reads as if if was a screenplay ready to be made into a movie. I couldn't stop listening to it. 5 stars!

Van Lustbader has taken up where Ludlum left us hanging (RIP). Once more, Jason Bourne travels into the breach . .. convolutions, intrigue, betrayal & can't-possibly-get-out-of situations with a spectacular twist. Even unabridged, the action made the time it took to change from one CD to the next interminable. Great story; fabulous action; a worthy entrant into the Bourne saga.

Okay, but not the Bourne we know and love. The book should have been written with a different character. Enjoyed the story, but it didn't feel like Bourne.

I guess the reason I have read all the Bourne books is because of the action and intrigue...Bourne is one invincible guy. A little overdone? Yes, but fun nonetheless. The narrator on this cd is first rate. I would recommend this to anyone who really believes in the adage, "the good guy always wins."

As an action book this book isn't bad. It just doesn't fit into the Jason Bourne story line. Eric Van Lustbader basically eliminated everything that made Jason Bourne/David Webb who he was within the first disc.
