Audio Book Summary

Brilliance of the Moon is the third book in the Tales of the Otori series by Lian Hearn.

A beautiful, haunting evocation of the medieval Japan of Lian Hearn's imagination, this thrilling follow-up to Grass for His Pillow and Across the Nightingale Floor delves deeper into the complex loyalties that bind its characters from birth. Filled with adventure and surprising twists of plot and fortune, this third book in the Tales of the Otori series travels beyond the Three Countries, to the outside influences that threaten to intrude upon this isolated realm.

This final story of the trilogy was just like the first, fast-paced, and exciting. The male narrator is great. The female narrator has the right tone, but her persistent slow reading in order to enunciate each word is unnecessary. Still, I recommend reading the whole trilogy.

This series has been delightful all the way through. I was satisfied with this concluson to the "trilogy" of the Tales of the Otori and also happy to learn there are more tales to listen to and read. I loved the narration, too.

A fantastic ending, but keeps you itching for the next/last installment...can't wait to read that one too. This is one of the best epics I have read since Lord of the Rings (NOT QUITE that good)....but close

The Brilliance of the Moon is the third novel in Lian Hearns epic Tales of the Otori. The characters are so engaging that you find yourself rooting for them. It is easy to forget that the two main characters Takeo and Kaede are still teenagers. I am so happy that there is a fourth novel because i am not ready to leave these two.
