Never read a Deaver novel. Finished with Cornwell and DeMille and Burke, needed someone else with forensic pathology details. Deaver fit the bill fine.
First chapters dragged and it was hard to image the characters in my head, even though there were pages of details, almost to a fault. Eventually, 45 min in, I got it.
As alluded to by other reviewers, this novel is PACKED with small details and many of them not of value. I love it myself, I want to know every hair and saliva report. Its a twisty little gem that I think will keep me into Deaver for a while.
The ONLY thing I feel is a bit contrived (since I was also on the job for 15 yrs in Atlanta GA) is the fact that the #1 forensic expert is: A. ParaPalegic, B. Living in an apartment filled with equipment, C. Has police, suspects and perps in his said apartment rather than a precinct. Other than that, loved it.
