This was my first experience with Morgan Brice's work. I was entertained by the story. Although I could appreciate the story, I think that I would have liked to start with the first book in order to develop more of a connection with Seth and Evan. I could have done without the descriptive sexual scenes. Kale Williams' narration was good, and his performance kept my attention. I was given a free copy of the audiobook, and I have voluntarily posted this review.

Love this series (an audio review) I’m a huge Morgan Brice fan and I’ve enjoyed the Witchbane books from the beginning. I liked this one a lot, although parts were painful. Seth and Evan are separated for much of the book, and it hurt my heart – where Seth went. Where we’d all like to go, I suppose, at least for a little while. Fortunately, his love for Evan prevailed and he was able to come home – to his real home. I also liked the addition of Parker. I didn’t know much about Evan’s family and I liked how Parker just kind of fit into the story. Another sidekick – and a helpful one to boot. The book has just the right amount of suspense plus some old characters I love and a few new ones as well. Overall, the book hit just the right note with me at just the right time. Have to say how much I love Kale Williams. His narrations are always great and he does a fantastic job in this series.

I have read and thoroughly enjoyed books from other paranormal series written by Morgan Brice. When I saw ‘The Devil You Know’ offered as an ARC on audiobook, even though I’ve not read any of the other books in the ‘Witchbane’ series, I felt comfortable enough with Brice’s writing style to request a free copy. While I wouldn’t recommend starting at Book 6 in normal circumstances, I will say that Brice provides enough background information to make it stand alone well. If you’ve made it this far into the series, you know it follows one couple throughout, Seth and Evan, who have become witch hunters due to REASONS. They’re on the trail of another coven member in Cleveland, but it appears their reputations have preceded them and the witch is anticipating their arrival. This complicates their hunt considerably. The plotting of the paranormal elements of the story are straight-forward and easily understood, which is nice for a newbie like me. The story is paranormal, but what I appreciate most is the family relationships depicted in this book. I won’t get too spoiler-y, but there is a very significant portion of the book spent in the past (only not really–you’ll see), that allows Seth to gain some closure about his past. That alone made the entire story worth the listen. Evan is also afforded chunks of narrative in which to resolve some of his family issues. The book is emotional with all-around great storytelling. It’s been a little while since I’ve had the pleasure of listening to a Kale Williams narration. His soft-spoken performance puts a nice touch to the story and cements him as a favorite narrator of mine. Recommended.

The Devil You Know" by Morgan Brice is part of the "Witchbane" series, in which Seth Tanner and his partner Evan Malone try to disrupt a coven of witches first. But this time Gremory is forewarned and goes to great lengths to kill the two hunters when they arrive in a new location. It doesn't take long for Seth and Evan to get separated in their hunt. This was interesting that they are both separated, as I expected the two to hunt together. Still, I found it rewarding because the focus was different. The story is exciting and I found myself rooting for Evan and the longer Seth was missing, the more excited I became to see if he could be found in time. I really liked Evan's brother, who the reader got to know in this book and I hope to see him again soon. For me, this was the first book in the series and I think enough background information was provided that I was able to understand the story well. I found their adventure very entertaining and I will probably start the series from the beginning. The audiobook was narrated by Kale Williams and he does a brilliant job of reading, as always. I like his pleasant voice, his appropriate pacing and the different voices he uses to bring the story to life.

I love Seth and Evan together, so this time around it was definitely a change from the usual as they were apart for the majority of the story. But one thing this did allow for was a chance to shine a spotlight on those other members of the supernatural and paranormal-adjacent community who help support their fight against the witch disciples. It also showed how the guys can work independently from each other just as well as they can together—though obviously they’re better together ;-) Seth and Evan get separated pretty early on in the book, and from there we know it’s a race against time to reunite them before something terrible happens. I was unsure how I’d feel about them not working together for the whole story like they usually do since I love the interaction between them, but it didn’t really bother me. I liked the introduction of Evan’s brother, and the part he played; I’m hoping we’ll see him pop up in future stories in the series (or any of the author’s other connected series). I was on edge for most of the story with Seth being missing, and the author did a good job of keeping that tension level high. I felt myself getting just as impatient as Evan to find Seth, and just plain frustrated with the situation in which Seth was trapped in his own mind. It was nice to have Kale Williams narrating again, and his even tone and pacing along with consistent character voices made this an enjoyable listen. The story itself was a 4.5-star read for me, and the narration gets 5 stars.

I love this linked universe and I enjoy seeing characters show up again, as well as meeting new ones I'm sure will be in the other books. I appreciated the continued character growth of Seth and Evan. As noted by another book reviewer, their attraction drew me in but I believed them being apart in this story added to their relationship. Since Seth and Evan were both cursed with the spell where they were unable to touch each other, allowed for the author, Morgan Brice, to add more depth to them as individuals, and as a couple. The Devil You Know had a good pacing. I felt immersed the whole time. I cannot wait until the next book! The narrator, Kale Williams, did a great job telling this story, without his narration the book would not have been the same. I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.

This was an interesting book in the series because for a good portion of the book, Seth and Evan were apart. We've come to see them as a tram in this series and watched them grow in their ability to work together. Here, we get the interesting perspective of how much they've grown in individual strength from their love and partnership. Lots of background about their families is revealed here as well. It presents a wonderful mix of new dangers and new characters will filling in lots of details about these two that I had wondered about.

The Devil You Know is Book 6 in the Witchbane series. I love this series. Seth and Evan are continuing their work in stopping the witch disciples, but when Seth goes missing Evan has to seek out help from others. Even his brother Parker helps out. This book had me on the edge of my seat and took me on an emotional rollercoaster. What's real and what's a dream? I love the strong connection Seth and Evan have and how it helped in Seth's rescue. They've grown so much together. I definitely recommend this book and series and can't wait for more.  Narrator Kale Williams does a marvelous job in bringing this story to life. He's a joy to listen to. 

I read this book with my eyes back in February 2022 and loved it. I loved it all over again when I listened to Kale Williams perform the audiobook. There really isn’t anything else I can say so I’m pasting a copy of my original review below: Kept me on the edge of my seat! Monster hunter books are not normally the type of book that I pick up. However, since reading my first Morgan Brice book just a little over two years ago, I’ve become a huge fan of her stories. She has a lot of different series to choose from under her Morgan Brice pen name and lots more from her Gail Z. Martin pen name. All of her stories connect in one way or another but you absolutely can read them as standalone books. I actually haven’t read the first three Witchbane books yet (sad face) but I never felt lost while reading the remaining stories in the series. She does an excellent job of giving you the background information you need from previous books, while at the same time not having you feel like you’re re-reading stuff you wouldn’t want to. I hope that makes sense.

After reading the previous 5 installments if the Witchbane Series, I knew that I would love this latest addition and I was not disappointed. Seth's and Evan's quest continues while the love these two share just keeps growing stronger and more intense as the series goes on. I truly enjoyed that the book was pretty much Evan led this time around. I'm glad he got a chance to step up and take care of business even in the midst of worrying about his partner. The new additions to their ever growing friends network helped to provide them with the backup needed to accomplish their mission. I am so looking forward to more adventures from Seth and Evan in the future. Now adding in the great narration by Kale Williams make this even better. ** I received an ARC and this is my unbiased opinion. **
