This book had so much promise. It was really difficult to like or sympathize with America. It felt like the author wasn't sure who she wanted the readers to root for. Hard eyerolls throughout the whole book.

In love with this series. The books had me drawn in all day at work. The stories teach lessons and actually inspired me to stand up for myself a little bit more. It also didn’t focus solely on romance, as it added additional story in the plot!

The author moves the plot too slowly for me. I think this series would have been better if it were one book as I might have been able to take the heartache for an hour or two, not the whole book and probably moving into the next one. It felt dragged out a little to much for my taste. I had to look up the ending because I just could not take the heartache anymore. After I knew the ending (I won\'t say it), I still couldn\'t handle the uncertainty and angst, despite being able to see the light at the end of the tunnel. It just hurt too much. Maybe that makes it REALLY good because it really did move me, but I couldn\'t take the heartache and had to stop. I couldn\'t take it. I also tried to marathon all 3 in a row when I probably should have spaced them out a bit. I\'m going to take time and come back though. The narrator is a tad inconsistent, but I have heard other books she\'s read and I enjoyed them a lot. Nothing about it was distracting to a point of stopping (I did stop, but not because of her), but it was kind of annoying when she would switch the cadences of her speech and sort of muddled what the author meant. Some narrators are good enough that you can tell when the protagonist is thinking vs. when the protagonist is speaking, but there didn\'t seem much of a difference here. Also sometimes her character\'s voices would change and it made things confusing. When people surprise the protagonist, we should be familiar enough with the voices to know who it is, but that only happened about 70% of the time. Nothing to egregious, other than when she tried to speak Italian....but it was a non speaker saying it so that\'s sort of a moot point. Otherwise it was excellent.

Great book . The narrator is very good. She can make a good disctintion with her voice of every character in the book.
