Audio Book Summary

If society collapsed, could you survive?

When Morgan Carter’s car breaks down 250 miles from his home, he figures his weekend plans are ruined. But things are about to get much, much worse: the country’s power grid has collapsed. There is no electricity, no running water, no Internet, and no way to know when normalcy will be restored—if it ever will be. An avid survivalist, Morgan takes to the road with his prepper pack on his back.

During the grueling trek from Tallahassee to his home in Lake County, chaos threatens his every step but Morgan is hell-bent on getting home to his wife and daughters—and he’ll do whatever it takes to make that happen.

Fans of James Wesley Rawles, William R. Forstchen's One Second After, and The End by G. Michael Hopf will revel in A. American's apocalyptic tale.

Great story with very realistic action and events. I appreciated the name dropping of the items he would use. Very easy to Google search it and visualize exactly what the character was doing.

I almost quit this one. The exhaustive name dropping and acronyms of survival gear, guns, food, packs, etc. coupled with the exhaustive detail / description of every move was, well, frankly boring. I stuck with it though and understood the why to all that in the beginning of the story as the story unfolded. Then. I was hooked. Thrilling story very well told. Just started the next one in the series and will listen to them all. A. American is a fantastic writer. Highly recommend. I truest hope what happens in this book NEVER become reality.

If you use the word sheeple at least once a day, this book is for you. This book is a hilarious. Too bad it’s not a comedy. It’s written as a paranoid wet dream of far right militia loving lunatics. At no point does it actually provide any basis for its many outlandish claims, but seems to rely primarily on the concept that people on the left want to take control of everyone’s life just because that’s a thing to do. No motivation needed. Just because. And the Republican created and funded DHS is apparently a left wing apparatus to train homicidal maniacs to seize the property of freedom loving Americans and then murder them. Because.

I thought the book was very good for a fiction EMP attack book on what it would be like to travel long distance to get home and the hurdles that may be out there. Also helps with what you should have with you when traveling long distances.

Great story and if you pay attention you can't help but learn something constructive. I love the technical detail and how it flows so well with the story. You can tell the author is a true master of his craft with off-the-charts experience and training.
