Audio Book Summary

Sadie has a gift. And she'll do anything to keep from using it.

At sixteen, Sadie Young had a brush with death, and as a result she became more sensitive to the supernatural. Rather than embrace this gift, she spent years running from it, and from the darkness that once preyed upon her.

Now twenty-five and working as a librarian, Sadie is called upon by a desperate family friend to look into a strange series of events. A teenaged girl has entered a reputedly haunted house in town and has gone mad. Committed, the girl attempts suicide and claims to be terrorized at all hours by a horrific specter known as 'Mother Maggot'.

Despite having subdued her gift for the past nine years, Sadie wishes to assist the girl and reticently agrees to visit the site of the haunting. But upon entering the house on Beacon Hill, she discovers that Mother Maggot isn't merely a figment of a disturbed teen's imagination . . .

I found this book to be exciting. I especially loved that I often didn’t know what was going to happen next. The ending is abrupt but I’m sure that means there will be another book to come and continue the story. I’m looking forward to it. For the narrator: LibRary, LibRarian

I was on the edge of my seat from the very beginning. A little slow in the middle but a unexpected twist at the end.

The narrator was t horrible at depicting others voices...but good god was hers boring to listen to. She honestly sounds like Siri. During narration it sounded like she was rushing through the sentences in a robotic voice. The premise of the book was ok. I wanted to see how it ended. Not super well written but the story was ok

Kept listening in hopes it would get better..it didn't. I almost stopped several times simply due to the narrator's gross mispronounciation of "LIBARY" and "LIBARIAN"....for heavens sake girl, this was the profession of your MAIN character,.. just awful.

This is a light listen without too much depth and a somewhat interesting idea. I really don't appreciate cliffhangers so this was somewhat agrivating as I have no intention of reading the next one. narrator is repetitive and a bit too breathy for my taste, but also not too bad..

A little bit of horror is always good for the nerves. And this story does not dissapoint, especially, because it is different. The main character is the only one who can see the horrors of the story, while her friend cannot. And there is always a new twist around the corner, since the way throught the trilogy leads to the answer of the main characters past.

It was okay until the ending. I cannot stand it when books end that way! I will not spoil it for others but the whole book was just ruined for me.
