Audio Book Summary

Ewan McCabe, the eldest, is a warrior determined to vanquish his enemy. Now, with the time ripe for battle, his men are ready and Ewan is poised to take back what is his-until a blue-eyed, raven-haired temptress is thrust upon him. Mairin may be the salvation of Ewan's clan, but for a man who dreams only of revenge, matters of the heart are strange territory to conquer. The illegitimate daughter of the king, Mairin possesses prized property that has made her a pawn-and wary of love. Her worst fears are realized when she is rescued from peril only to be forced into marriage by her charismatic and commanding savior, Ewan McCabe. But her attraction to her ruggedly powerful new husband makes her crave his surprisingly tender touch; her body comes alive under his sensual mastery. And as war draws near, Mairin's strength, spirit, and passion challenge Ewan to conquer his demons-and embrace a love that means more than revenge or land.

I loved it, I listen to that book, and kinda got upset because I got through too fast. I’ll keep listening, especially at night, while everyone is sleeping I’m listening to my books, The Billionaires next door, and now I’m waiting to do the bastard billionaires. I’m just excited this has taken reading to a whole new level

Maya Banks is easily one of my favorite authors and though I'm not fond of period pieces, I loved this. And I mean, who doesn't love listening to an audio book where there are Scottish accents. This book had me hooked from the beginning. To start off with that kind of violence in that particular place had my jaw on the floor. We find out from the very beginning that Marin is a strong female that is not about to be used as a baby maker in order to get her dowry. I was totally worth her in that. MB puts this character through it. To be female in that time period was already had enough but when you have to deal with men her are not true, who lie, chest and steal; it's worse. So Marin is kidnapped and asking the way her kidnappers catch a kid trying to steal from them. They attempt to make him pay but Marin again shows her strength and protects him. She eventually meets the boy's father and sparks fly, in more ways than one. Ewan of the Laird of the land and wants to know who Marin is and why his son is so protective of her. So they banter back and forth with each other throughout the book until it's found it that she is the king's niece and had a really high dowry which is why she was kidnapped. From there the drama and the adventures take off and Ewan finds out that Marin is not a docile woman and he may have his hands full. Loved this.

I enjoyed this audiobook. The narrator was good but I'm just picky and prefer a man speaking man parts and lady speaking girl parts. It stayed interesting and had twists. I will look up more from this author.

I have read/ listened to this book several times and still enjoy it, in fact I enjoy the trilogy I think it's one of the best Maya Banks has done . It has lots of action and flows right along with no fluff to speak of. It's a great book !
