Audio Book Summary

Francesca Marqueto is an anthropologist based in Lima, Peru. Every two years, she travels deep into the Peruvian Amazon to visit a village that lives outside the influence of modern society. She has published numerous papers on their lifestyle and customs. But what she doesn't know is that someone with sinister motives has been reading them very carefully. Alfonso Calderon is a police officer in Lima. When an unidentified body washes ashore, it is his job to find and notify the family of the deceased. He initially writes it off as another drowning, but after an autopsy he is thrown into a homicide investigation deeper than he could have imagined. When Francesca and Alfonso's paths cross, their search for a killer takes them to a mysterious artificial island. There they find that someone has learned from Francesca's papers and founded a community where outcasts from society must cooperate for survival. It appears that on this island former violent criminals now peacefully coexist. But nothing about the island is as it seems, including the metal skeleton that it was built on.

I'm sorry but I didn't understand the story plot and the narrator's accent was too thick to understand. I'm not trying to be mean but I tried listening to it twice and I still didn't feel it. I just didn't get it.

Could not get thru this book. The narrator read too fast and could not follow due to the narrator's accent.

I didn't have as much trouble with the narration as some but didn't find it very well paced. As a story this was poorly constructed and under developed. Very frustrating as it was a very promising premise.

I VERY MUCH wanted to get into this book and the plot sounded wonderful, I will most likely pick this up and read it on my own time however, I was very disappointed with the narration. Nothing against the voice actress it was a pleasant voice and there is nothing wrong with having an accent no matter the level of intensity but I had such a hard time understanding and then staying with the story that I had to stop. I attempted several times but to no avail, it was just so hard to get into the story and understand it when I had to keep rewinding and listening again and attempting to decipher the sentences being spoken. I can't really even rate this because I don't know how the story was and I don't think the narrator was doing a bad job it was just hard to understand. This one is on the recording company I think, just not clear enough for me.
