Audio Book Summary

New York Times and USA TODAY bestselling author Kresley Cole delivers a scorching tale about a foreboding vampire who lives in the shadows—and the beautiful assassin determined to hunt him down—in the “sensational” (RT Book Reviews) second novel of the Immortals After Dark series.

Centuries ago, Sebastian Wroth was turned into a vampire against his will. Burdened with hatred and alone for ages, he sees little reason to live. Until an exquisite, fey creature comes to kill him, inadvertently saving him instead.

When Kaderin the Cold Hearted lost her two beloved sisters to a vampire attack long ago, a benevolent force deadened her sorrow—accidentally extinguishing all of her emotions. Yet whenever Kaderin encounters Sebastian, her feelings—particularly lust—emerge multiplied. For the first time, she’s unable to complete a kill.

And when the prize of a legendary month-long contest is powerful enough to change history, Kaderin will do anything to win it for her sisters. Wanting only to win her, forever, Sebastian competes as well, taking every opportunity—as they travel to ancient tombs and through catacombs, seeking relics around the world—to use her new feelings to seduce her. But when Kaderin is forced to choose between the vampire she’s falling for and reuniting her family, how can she live without either?

I am so glad that I stuck with this series. When I first read A Hunger Like no Other I hated it. I swore I'd never try these books again. Then, thanks to a few persistent friends they had me trying again. The second time though I vowed to read until the end. I ended up liking it enough to continue to this book. And thank God for that. No Rest For the Wicked was awesome! I think my biggest problem in the first book was that I didn't like Emaline. She was really wimpy and scared all the time and it irritated me. I like a heroine with a bit of backbone. Luckily, Emaline changed and toughened up over the course of the book. The funny thing though is that Katerine was completely opposite to Emaline. She was tough as nails and totally kick ass from the beginning. Although, emotionally speaking she needed to soften up a bit. I really liked her as a heroine. I also liked that she changed as well. Kresley Cole is very good at developing characters. Sebastian was great too. He was an Alpha Male strong enough to take care of any female he took as his bride. Problem is, Kat didn't need anyone to take care of her. I actually felt sorry for poor Sebastian throughout the book. He just didn't know what to do to win Kat's affections. I definitely recommend this series to anyone who loves vampires, werewolves, and all the other creatures of the Lore. If you've read the first book and weren't really wowed, I urge you to try again. I listened to this one in audio and the narrator is fantastic. I'm really glad I stuck with the series.
