Audio Book Summary

The Number One Sunday Times Bestseller

This is the age of addiction, a condition so epidemic, so all encompassing and ubiquitous that unless you are fortunate enough to be an extreme case, you probably don't know that you have it.

What unhealthy habits and attachments are holding your life together? Are you unconsciously dependent on food? Bad relationships? A job that doesn't fulfill you? Numb, constant perusal of your phone, looking for what?

My qualification for writing this book is not that I am better than you, it's that I am worse. I am an addict, addicted to drugs, alcohol, sex, money, love and fame.
The program in Recovery has given Russell Brand freedom from all addictions and it will do the same for you.
This system offers nothing less than liberation from self-centredness, a new perspective, freedom from the illusion of suffering for anyone who is willing to take the necessary steps.

I wouldn\'t say I had a life-destroying addiction when I started listening to this, but after reading this I realised the underlying problems that have caused me to resort to it when I was feeling lonely or bored. Russel Brand provides you with the tools to untangle your mind and find the cause of these addictive behaviours and that alone helped me massively, he also provides you with the tools to keep going and staying connected with your new way of thinking. These tools originally have a lot to do with belief in God, but Russel conveys them in a way that would suit a person with any beliefs and I, a non-religious person could still relate and follow the steps. This had a significant impact on my life in the short 3 months after discovering it and I will definitely keep revisiting it again when I need some guidance or clarity. I would recommend this to anyone who may be worried they\'re losing control over some sort of behaviour in their life, be it an obvious life-destroying pattern or a more socially acceptable behaviour such as excessive social media usage.
