Anton Chekov was a superb writer. But whether or not you are allowed to savor each of his gems depends entirely on the narrator. This narrator was excellent with one exception. He would immediately delve into the next short story with out of giving the listener any time to savor the gem he had just finished .
I listened to another reading of some of Chekov’s stories and the problem was solved by inserting about 30 seconds to a minute of classical music in between each story. It made it far more satisfying.
