Audio Book Summary

#1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • John Grisham is the acknowledged master of the legal thriller. In his first collection of novellas, law is a common thread, but America’s favorite storyteller has several surprises in store.

“Homecoming” takes us back to Ford County, the fictional setting of many of John Grisham’s unforgettable stories. Jake Brigance is back, but he’s not in the courtroom. He’s called upon to help an old friend, Mack Stafford, a former lawyer in Clanton, who three years earlier became a local legend when he stole money from his clients, divorced his wife, filed for bankruptcy, and left his family in the middle of the night, never to be heard from again—until now. Now Mack is back, and he’s leaning on his old pals, Jake and Harry Rex, to help him return. His homecoming does not go as planned.

In “Strawberry Moon,” we meet Cody Wallace, a young death row inmate only three hours away from execution. His lawyers can’t save him, the courts slam the door, and the governor says no to a last-minute request for clemency. As the clock winds down, Cody has one final request.

The “Sparring Partners” are the Malloy brothers, Kirk and Rusty, two successful young lawyers who inherited a once prosperous firm when its founder, their father, was sent to prison. Kirk and Rusty loathe each other, and speak to each other only when necessary. As the firm disintegrates, the resulting fiasco falls into the lap of Diantha Bradshaw, the only person the partners trust. Can she save the Malloys, or does she take a stand for the first time in her career and try to save herself?

By turns suspenseful, hilarious, powerful, and moving, these are three of the greatest stories John Grisham has ever told.

Short stories, I wish he would have finished them. Any one of them

John Grisham is one of my favourite authors and I could barely get through this book. If there's one thing I am grateful for, is the fact that the first story, was indeed short because Jeff Daniels is a terrible, TERRIBLE narrator. Had this been a full length book, he would have ruined Jake Brigance for me. I would not recommend this book.

The first two stories were a waste of time, it's hard to believe they were even published. I'm saying this as a long time hard core John Grisham fan. I have to wonder if he's even writing some of his latest works himself. The main story was ok, not the best I ever read but fairly enjoyable. I'm going to proceed with caution when it comes to Grishams future books, sadly.

I loved the story. John Grisham is my favorite author. I really like Micheal Beck reading the books. Micheal is also my favorite. He changes his voice for each character. Jeff Daniel's just reads tries to put a twang to the southern voice, but it doesn't work. it like my grandfather just reading the book. Not very entertaining..

Definitely not my favorite John Grisham book. Instead of feeling like three short exciting stories, it felt like bits and pieces of abandoned novel ideas were thrown into a book and called a "novella". Normally I'm a huge fan of the Jake Brigance / Clanton, MS storyline but these stories fell flat. They felt unfinished and rushed.

Liked the first and last story. Didn’t care for the second story, it was too depressing.

I wanted each novella to be longer, because John Grisham is great, as always!

John Grisham never disappoints me. I enjoyed all three of these stories. I am spoiled to having longer books, but at the beginning he forewarns us that this a group of novellas. Unlike American Soap Opera's - Novellas run for a limited time. With this in mind, enjoy these three stories, as I have. I wish the second one had been a little longer, but I was not disappointed.
