Audio Book Summary

James is a street musician struggling to make ends meet. Bob is a stray cat looking for somewhere warm to sleep. When James and Bob meet, they forge a never-to-be-forgotten friendship that has been charming readers from Thailand to Turkey. A Street Cat Named Bob is an international sensation, landing on the bestseller list in England for 52 consecutive weeks and selling in 26 countries around the world. Now, James and Bob are ready to share their true story with the U.S. in this tale unlike any you' ve ever read of a cat who possesses some kind of magic. When street musician James Bowen found an injured cat curled up in the hallway of his apartment building, he had no idea how much his life was about to change. James was living hand to mouth on the streets of London, barely making enough money to feed himself, and the last thing he needed was a pet. Yet James couldn't resist helping the strikingly intelligent but very sick animal, whom he named Bob. He slowly nursed Bob back to health and then sent the cat on his way, imagining that he would never see him again. But Bob had other ideas. Perfect for fans of Marley Me: Life and Love with the World's Worst Dog and Dewey: The Small-Town Library Cat That Changed the World, this instant classic about the power of love between man and animal has taken the world by storm and is guaranteed to be a huge hit with American fans as well.

Very well written,. Especially since it's his first book, and he didn't start wanting to be a writer. Actor did excellent job, his voice made me think he was telling me the story, not just reading a book. Excellent book, and excellent movie. Bob plays himself in the movie

Love this book. If you have children, you should know there is some swearing. I also liked the narrator's voice. Great job!

This was the best book I've read in a long time! It was enthralling and quite frankly life-changing. You will laugh, cry, contemplate and may become a little more open-hearted. Enjoy!

A Street Cat Named Bob goes on my list of books that give a message useful to everyone. I’ve shared my home with cats for most of my life and for each one, there has been a mutual benefit but I always felt the cat gave me the most. Bob gave meaning to the life of James who had a hard time finding that meaning on his own. James found a purpose in Bob to get his life on track and through several adverse events, James emerged as a stronger person and one who could accept love from Bob and others around him which had eluded him in his earlier life. Bob found a loving home and a loyal friend in James. Their adventures were a delight to read about.

What makes this animal story great is it shows how much James needed Bob the cat as much as the reverse, and the relationship and trust they developed. The narrator was excellent.
