Audio Book Summary

In this anthology of true crime tales, editor Walter Wood interviews those who were touched by the crimes recounted, sometimes as an acquaintance of the deceased or criminal or in the course of their professional duties. This work provides a personal look at some of the most sensational crimes and scandals of late 19th and early 20th century Britain. (Summary by Nullifidian)

thei stories aren't bad but the reading from a few of the narrators made it feel like nails on a chalkboard, or drilling into a cavity! I had to stop listening when the one person started another chapter. the drawing out of the final word in a sentence was making me crazy! I'd like to hear the book and I really never complain but I just couldn't take it anymore with this one! I couldn't even follow the story listening to that one! a couple were good though which made me make it through 7 chapters. heard the one again and just switched books.

dropped a couple of stars on narration, a couple of narrators were very hard to listen to and therefore distracting. Otherwise interesting stories!

narrator/s are tedious and annoying to listen to and mask the value of the book

A very interesting listen, although some narrators were hard to listen to, speeding up helped with that. Wasn't as bad as I thought reading other comments. The last story could be a movie!

That book was written from people who were directly involved with the violent crimes that had been committed gave a spine, chilling recollection of such heinous crimes. murder and violence will never stop however, the words from the people may guide and support another sufferer and help them understand or come to terms in their own minds.

I enjoyed the book and most of the narrators were good, I do wish they were recorded with a little more volume and at a consistent volume so I could adjust the volume as needed for my surroundings. I drive a truck.
