The middle section was the most informative. I wish the beginning and last thirds gave more explanations and concrete illustrative examples rather than repeating “the system” “socialism” “capitalism” in broad terms. Half the time I couldn’t follow and these are now politically sensitive buzzwords that could prevent a good message from reaching people. Those lofty sections felt like soap box speeches instead of proven points. Also was ignorant on racial issues. Us middle class white folks prioritizing our success over historically legally marginalized communities (particularly African Americans) IS racist, so yes, both the foundation of the last president’s messages and his followers’ focus were inherently racist. The author went to great lengths to try to convince us that this wasn’t the case. I hope the author and fellow white readers will come to understand HOW racism operates there, not “if”.
