I have tried to read the book for so many years, but struggling with the language gave up. at last being able to listen to it I have finished it... oh my goodness what a wonderful story, such a timeless tale of love, poverty, family and grief. read it, listen to it... you will be glad you did! the narrator's voice is so well fitted, he gives enough animation to the characters without it becoming annoying and you just want to keep on listening... to the point where I am going to see if he's read anything else I fancy

OMG. One depressing thing after another. SPOILER ALERT!! There is not a happy ending to this sad sad story of a Milk Maid whose done nothing wrong in her life.

Such a good book. Im so sad it is over. It was the first audiobook that i actually listened to outside of my car because i couldn’t wait until my next drive to see what happened.

Very strong story of a young and pure heart. So old and so actual, because circumstances may have changed, but the evil of the naivety and parents selfish role in the raising of a kid is the same nowadays

A wonderful book, which I read as a school set work. A fantastic picture of Victorian Dorset and society. The narrator was excellent.

I was spell bound!!!! I would have never actually read this. But listening I could not put it down!!!
