Audio Book Summary

was originally published in 1908 and includes all the elements of the classic whodunit – mysterious events, ghostly apparitions, things that go bump in the night and murder. In The Circular Staircase "a middle-aged spinster is persuaded by her niece and nephew to rent a country house for the summer. The house they chose belonged to a bank defaulter who had hidden stolen securities in the walls. The gentle, peace-loving trio is plunged into a series of crimes solved with the help of the aunt."

Most Narrators are difficult to understand! Disruptive to the flow of the story

Story kept my attention but the narration at times was challenging. I know I missed key elements of the mystery because I couldn’t understand what was being read.

Story was fine. Some of the readers required careful listening because of accents.

Absorbing story with lots of twists and turns and intrigue. It was spoilt by the narration.

To many narrator changes with some that you couldn’t understand made it difficult to enjoy.

I did not care for some of the readers. The German sounding girl was very hard to understand and one of the male readers read too quickly. Other than that, I enjoyed the story. JLR
