'Do you trust me?'

An instant bestseller, A Map of Days launched readers into the previously unexplored world of American peculiars, one bursting with new questions, new allies, and new adversaries.

Now, with enemies behind him and the unknown ahead, Jacob Portman's story continues as he takes a brave leap forward into The Conference of the Birds, the next instalment of the beloved, bestselling Miss Peregrine's Peculiar Children series.

The other books had a lovely blend of "normal" and "peculiar" worlds which is lost in this book where the focus has become magical. Though Jacob has become more confident, his whining and pining for a normal life left me wishing he either left the peculiar world for good or got eaten by a Hollowgast. His new love also did not help in this respect. Emma, now reduced to almost a background character, spoilt the whole series of books for me. The vanishing of one of my favourite themes of their love amidst the horrors they endured reveals their love to be shallow and almost pointless. I just hope in the next book, somehow, this can be saved, but with what was said in this book, I cannot see how it can be without breaking the integrity of the story that has been now told.
