Audio Book Summary

Le Comte de Monte-Cristo is an adventure novel and one of the author's most popular works. He completed the work in 1844. The story takes place in France, Italy, islands in the Mediterranean and in the Levant during the historical events of 1815-1838 (from just before the Hundred Days to the reign of Louis-Philippe of France). It deals with themes of hope, justice, vengeance, mercy and forgiveness. The book is considered a literary classic today. (Summary by David Clarke, ref. Wikipedia)

    Can't recommend this enough! great story excellent narration. Actually had me in floods of tears at one point. Am very greatful to the narrator for undertaking this epic title. and making it more accessible to a dyslexic like me. (would have taken me years to read it by myself)

    It took a bit of time to settle into the story. There are a lot of characters to get used to. Clarke’s narration is excellent. This was on my summer reading list for my freshman year at college it only took me 50 years to get to it. Glad I finally did..

    I completely agree with David P’s review below. Exemplary and versatile narration (actually mind boggling) and a rousing story of patient and calculated revenge. I loved it, the perfect long journey sort of book!!
