Audio Book Summary

INSPIRATION FOR THE ORIGINAL SERIES THE LINCOLN LAWYER – THE #1 TV SHOW ON NETFLIX

Defense attorney Mickey Haller is forced to bend the law until it breaks when he is hired to defend a man accused of killing a prostitute in this novel of courtroom suspense, the "best one yet" (The Washington Post).   Mickey Haller gets the text, "Call me ASAP - 187," and the California penal code for murder immediately gets his attention. Murder cases have the highest stakes and the biggest paydays, and they always mean Haller has to be at the top of his game.

When Mickey learns that the victim was his own former client, a prostitute he thought he had rescued and put on the straight and narrow path, he knows he is on the hook for this one. He soon finds out that she was back in LA and back in the life. Far from saving her, Mickey may have been the one who put her in danger.

Haunted by the ghosts of his past, Mickey must work tirelessly and bring all his skill to bear on a case that could mean his ultimate redemption or proof of his ultimate guilt. The Gods of Guilt shows once again why "Michael Connelly excels, easily surpassing John Grisham in the building of courtroom suspense" (Los Angeles Times).

Michael Connelly\'s knowledge both of the intricacies of the law and of police procedure seems bottomless. I like his Mick Haller books a small shade better than the Bosch books because of the legal aspect, but I\'ll gobble down books featuring either of his heroes in a flash. Connelly is a wonderful writer, and the suspense is relentless. Can\'t wait for the next.

This was one of the best. I love law fiction and this beats a John Ghrisham book hands down when he (John) remains a steady favorite. Couldn’t stop listening for the last two hours- up way too late. LOL

Too many details take away from the flow of the story.

I truly wish all authors could be as sure a thing as Michael Connelly is. No preview or synopses needed. I know with no doubt that it will be a treat every single time I see his name on the cover. Sadly I can not say that about John Grisham any more. Keep em coming Michael!!

Mickey Haller is my favorite Connelly hero. He's witty, flawed, likable and human. This is probably the best of the series. I'd recommend starting at the beginning and working your way through but if you only read one Mickey Haller book, this is the one I'd pick. The Narration is flawless as well.
