Audio Book Summary

HIS DARK MATERIALS IS NOW AN HBO ORIGINAL SERIES STARRING DAFNE KEEN, RUTH WILSON, ANDREW SCOTT, AND LIN-MANUEL MIRANDA!

The unforgettable His Dark Materials trilogy that began with The Golden Compass and continued with The Subtle Knife, reaches its astonishing conclusion in The Amber Spyglass. These modern fantasy classics have been hailed by Entertainment Weekly as an 'All-Time Greatest Novel' and Newsweek as a 'Top 100 Book of All Time'

Throughout the worlds, the forces of both heaven and hell are mustering to take part in Lord Asriel's audacious rebellion. Each player in this epic drama has a role to play—and a sacrifice to make. Witches, angels, spies, assassins, tempters, and pretenders, no one will remain unscathed.

Lyra and Will have the most dangerous task of all. They must journey to a gray-lit world where no living soul has ever gone and from which there is no escape.

As war rages and Dust drains from the sky, the fate of the living—and the dead—comes to depend on Lyra and Will. On the choices they make in love, and for love, forevermore.

100% required! The third is as wonderful as the first two, and the cast just as talented this time around. The character development and nuance in their relationships is masterful. I’m thrilled to hear Pullman is going to continue the series! This is the first series I’ve listened to through Audiobooks and have been completely spoiled by the full cast reading. It added another dimension of enjoyment that I didn’t realize I was missing in listening to a book.

such an amazing series. I've read the books, watched the movie, and watch the show. I even named my daughter Lyra! the voice actors were all so good as well. I really did like that it wasn't just 1 person reading the story.

It’s hard to criticize Pullman, as he is one of the greats, but I feel like he missed the mark with this effort. I honestly think the enthusiasm for this book is a carryover of the general gestalt for The Golden Compass, which is a masterpiece. Here, he gets the story wrong, he gets the mythology wrong.

Finally, my next credits came, and I was able to finish the trilogy about Lyra. It was an adventurous and exiting journey, which ended too fast - and a little bit sad. But it certainly shows, that there is hope for mankind. I highly recommend the whole series, and you can only start too late.
