Audio Book Summary

From the #1 New York Times-bestselling author of The 48 Laws of Power comes the definitive new book on decoding the behavior of the people around you

Robert Greene is a master guide for millions of readers, distilling ancient wisdom and philosophy into essential texts for seekers of power, understanding and mastery. Now he turns to the most important subject of all - understanding people's drives and motivations, even when they are unconscious of them themselves.

We are social animals. Our very lives depend on our relationships with people. Knowing why people do what they do is the most important tool we can possess, without which our other talents can only take us so far. Drawing from the ideas and examples of Pericles, Queen Elizabeth I, Martin Luther King Jr, and many others, Greene teaches us how to detach ourselves from our own emotions and master self-control, how to develop the empathy that leads to insight, how to look behind people's masks, and how to resist conformity to develop your singular sense of purpose. Whether at work, in relationships, or in shaping the world around you, The Laws of Human Nature offers brilliant tactics for success, self-improvement, and self-defense.

An absolute masterpiece written by a literary genius. You could study psychology and history for 20 years and then stay up all night for another 20 trying to make sense of it all. Or you could listen to this book 3 times. This is Robert's gift to humanity and you'd be a fool not to accept it. Just remember, this book is about me as much as it is about everyone else and there is only one person I can change.

I think I hadn't read in such a long time unfortunately and this definitely got me wanting to listen to books more than music. more to offer and I love music..

I liked some of Greene’s earlier works, but I found his Machiavellian slant on every human charactistic simplistic and tiresome. I was impressed with his inclusion of Jung, but overall I wouldn’t recommend this to a friend.

Absolute recommend. A trait followed by a real world example of the trait in such an illustrating way made the whole book a pleasure to dip into!

I love learning about human nature. This is a great read. I love the narration of this audiobook. I love hearing about the examples of the topics; using past and current figureheads as models, and then the conclusions afterwards. It makes me learn and understand the topics in the simplest way.
