Audio Book Summary

On one of the city’s hottest nights, New York Police Lieutenant Eve Dallas is sent to Central Park—and into a hellish new investigation. The victim is found on the rocks, just above the still, dark water of The Lake in Central Park. Around her neck is a single red ribbon. Her hands are posed, as if in prayer. But it is the eyes—removed with such precision, as if done by the careful hand of a surgeon—that have Dallas most alarmed. As more bodies turn up, each with the same defining scars, Eve is frantic for answers. Against her instincts, she accepts help from a psychic who offers one vision after another—each with shockingly accurate details of the murders. And when partner and friend Peabody is badly injured after escaping an attack, the stakes are raised. Are the eyes a symbol? A twisted religious ritual? A souvenir? With help from her husband, Roarke, Dallas must uncover the killer’s motivation before another vision becomes another nightmare....

I absolutely love this book. I love seeing how the characters continue to grow and work with each other. I enjoy thinking about some things that might happen in the future both physically and with morality. The narrator ìs my favorite of all narrators.

The story in itself was good, but I just could not get past Dallas. I just disliked her character - which was tough to get past as she was central to the story. Very hard to feel any kind of sympathy for her when she was so obnoxious, arrogant, rude and insensitive. I wanted to enjoy the story, which in itself, has plenty of twists and turns to keep it interesting - but found this main character kept it abrasive and irritating for me, personally! This was my first book by this author, not sure if I want to read another ...

I really enjoyed the character of Eve Dallas. I think if you're a Nora Roberts/J.D. Robb fan you'll enjoy.

Man, what a yawn-o-rama. This snoozer seemed more like a high school term paper than a best seller. So what if the story was set in the future; Star Trek was set in the future and it was crummy too. Pox on those self-styled reviewers that convinced me to choose this time-waster. If I want a story set in the future, I'm gonna stick with the Jetsons--at least they only last 1/2 hour. Trust me, folks, save your selection for a good ol' Patterson, Grisham, or Kellerman. You can thank me later...gk

This is the first J.D. Robb book I've ever read. This book is every bit as good as the Nora Roberts books I have read and fascinating because it's set in the not so distant future. As with any series, some was lost due to the fact that I neglected to read the series in order, but not enough to detract from the enjoyment!
