Audio Book Summary

Journey deep into the Scottish Highlands in the first memoir by #1 New York Times bestselling author and star of Outlander, Sam Heughan—exploring his life and reflecting on the waypoints that define him

"I had to believe, because frankly, I had come so far there could be no turning back."

In this intimate journey of self-discovery, Sam sets out along Scotland's rugged ninety-six-mile West Highland Way to map out the moments that shaped his views on dreams and ambition, family, friendship, love, and life. The result is a love letter to the wild landscape that means so much to him, full of charming, funny, wise, and searching insights into the world through his eyes.

Waypoints is a deeply personal journey that reveals as much about Sam to himself as it does to his readers.

I could listen to him read me the phone book. I just love the way he looked at his life and the journey he was on at the same time. I hope he gets more in return than he gives. He gives so much to so many.

I loved his raw honesty, describing his early days searching for acting work being turned down time after time, but never giving up, it’s such a metaphor for all young people today. Sam cleverly weaves his story, between the miles on his journey on the West Highland Way. His vivid descriptions are priceless, it doesn’t all go as planned which really connects as all at some point. I loved it, keep on writing Sam!

A refreshing approach to a biography that is wonderfully narrated by the author. While fans of Outlander will undoubtedly love the book, it will also appeal to readers in general. Discussing the challenges and beauty of the trail ties into the highs and lows of life, particularly his own. Thoroughly enjoyed it

I enjoyed the narratives from his life weaved in to the walk. I could also identify with needing to be in the moment more.
