Audio Book Summary

New York Times and USA TODAY bestselling author Kresley Cole’s scorching tale about a jaded werewolf and a captivating young witch in the third novel in the Immortals After Dark series is “one for the keeper shelf” (RT Book Reviews)!

Bowen MacRieve of the Lykae clan was nearly destroyed when he lost the one woman meant for him. The ruthless warrior grew even colder, never taking another to his bed—until a smoldering encounter with his enemy, Mariketa the Awaited, reawakens his darkest desires. When sinister forces unite against her, the Highlander finds himself using all his strength and skill to keep her alive.

Temporarily stripped of her powers, Mari is forced to take refuge with her sworn adversary. It’s rumored that no one can tempt Bowen’s hardened heart, but soon passion burns between them. Though a future together is impossible, she fears he has no intention of letting her go.

If they defeat the evil that surrounds them, can Mari deny Bowen when he demands her body and soul—or will she risk everything for her fierce protector?

I am so excited that I’ve found another series to dive into. I love it. It seems like each book is getting progressively better as I read. I think Mari and Bowen’s story is my favorite so far. I was excited to read about Bowen. I knew he suffered from what I’ve read of him so far. I was actually having a tough time in No Rest for the Wicked, because I wanted Kat to win but I also wanted Bow to win too. I kept trying to think of ways they could both come out on top. Then when the Hie was finished and Bowen lost, my heart broke for him. I didn’t think there was any way he could ever be happy again. I’m glad to be wrong. I loved the twists and turns in this book. Every time I thought I figured something out, things would change and go in a totally different direction than I expected. I don’t want to say what happens because it will ruin if for readers, but I will say it finished much better than I thought it would. I love the way Kresley Cole writes her characters. They are all so different it keeps the story interesting. Bow was fantastic—and I need to add that I listened to this book in audio and the narrator does an amazing Scottish accent. He really brought Bow to life. I felt his sadness and desperate need to be loyal to his dead mate, and it warred with his feelings for Mari. He was in such conflict and I felt it thorough the whole story. I also loved Mari. She was tough and strong willed. I loved that she refused to settle for less than she deserved. My heart broke for her, she had such abandonment issues and I wasn’t sure she could get a happily ever after. This series is fantastic for fans of Paranormal Romance. It’s quickly becoming a favorite for me.

Robert Burkoff does an excellent job portraying the characters and changing his accent. His Scottish brogue is pretty sexy to say the least. Hahaha.
