Audio Book Summary

NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • A progressive takedown of the uber-capitalist status quo that has enriched millionaires and billionaires at the expense of the working class, and a blueprint for what transformational change would actually look like

It’s OK to be angry about capitalism. Reflecting on our turbulent times, Senator Bernie Sanders takes on the billionaire class and speaks blunt truths about our country’s failure to address the destructive nature of a system that is fueled by uncontrolled greed and rigidly committed to prioritizing corporate profits over the needs of ordinary Americans.

Sanders argues that unfettered capitalism is to blame for an unprecedented level of income and wealth inequality, is undermining our democracy, and is destroying our planet. How can we accept an economic order that allows three billionaires to control more wealth than the bottom half of our society? How can we accept a political system that allows the super rich to buy elections and politicians? How can we accept an energy system that rewards the fossil fuel corporations causing the climate crisis? Sanders believes that, in the face of these overwhelming challenges, the American people must ask tough questions about the systems that have failed us and demand fundamental economic and political change. This is where the path forward begins.

It’s OK to Be Angry About Capitalism presents a vision that extends beyond the promises of past campaigns to reveal what would be possible if the political revolution took place, if we would finally recognize that economic rights are human rights, and if we would work to create a society that provides a decent standard of living for all. This isn’t some utopian fantasy; this is democracy as we should know it.

I think ideas like Richard P just stated is the reason our country is in such trouble. I can’t take people like that seriously. Bernie makes the most sense out of any politician and certainly brings us this information because he is human and cares about what is happening with in our country and the current state of capitalism and it’s overall results because of billionaires not paying their fair share of taxes. Not because he values profit. If you wrote a book, you’d want people to buy it for it’s information right? Nothing is free in this world.

Everyone needs to read this book, pay attention and vote accordingly. Bernie Sanders is explaining how out of control capitalism, lobbying and government corruption are ruining this country. We need to get money out of politics. Right now big pharmaceutical companies, Wall Street, financial institutions are running our government as well as the NRA. Medical debt, student debt isn’t a thing in every other first world country.

This book is very thin on the details of Mr Sandars proposals. Every solution offered is paid for by increased taxes on the rich without a specific amount. He should define "fair share". He also offers no analysis of what the consequences of his policy proposals might be. He also appears perfectly happy demonize those who are successful and to create class warfare.

Hates on capitalism, but has some good ideas. But 1 star, because he is using our capitalist system to make money off this book while saying that we need to be socialist, so I can’t take him seriously.

Bernie of course does go into some ideas for the problems of uber capitalism. It's just that they are toward the latter half of the book where most Americans don't have the attention span to get to. He does talk about public campaign funding and other methods but i think more thought should be given into electing the legislature by random selection every two years. Lobbying should be a crime punishable by up to 10 years in prison. The executive branch and judicial branch should be merged for efficiency as well. An excellent book from a totally legitimate human being. Pay no attention to the 1 star reviews as these people never bothered to read/listen to the entire book.
