Audio Book Summary

Loving her is a risk he can't afford ... and can't resist. When acclaimed Bible study author Genevieve Woodward receives an anonymous letter referencing her parents' past, she returns to her hometown in the Blue Ridge Mountains to chase down her family's secret. However, it's Genevieve's own secret that catches up to her when Sam Turner, owner of a historic farm, uncovers the source of shame she's worked so hard to hide. Sam has embraced his sorrow, his isolation, and his identity as an outsider. He's spent years carving out both career success and peace of mind. The last thing he wants is to rent the cottage on his property to a woman whose struggles stir his worst failure back to life. Yet can he bear to turn her away right when she needs him most?

Good moral content that goodness knows we need as it’s missing so much these days but I feel silly I didn’t realise it was a Christian book - the fact she is a bible study leader didn’t really register with me when I read the brief so there is lots of God references that really were not for me. On a narrative level I expected the earthquake story to be explored deeper but it left you hanging on the outcome of one of the characters - perhaps because he was an ‘unbeliever’ he didn’t get any resolve? Not very Christian !!!

LOVED the book and the lessons behind it. But the narrator... she was good for the women and okay for the guys but the Australian accent kinda put me on edge. I am Australian and hearing this "accent" throughout the whole book was just too much.

Good story. Make you realise that everyone is only human and that we all have our flaws.
